The Race is On

So yes we’re a few days into January ok fine four but this is as good a time as any to think about what I want to achieve this year…..

Yoga Teacher Training

In February I start a 6 month 200 hour yoga teacher training course with Yoga London. I have been practicing yoga for the last 4 years but it hasn’t been always been consistent. Last year I wanted to deepen that practice and knowledge as I had been doing more and more so I thought there is no time like the present. I’m not doing the course to change my job and go into teaching but what I would like to do is volunteer with my yoga. I go to GoodGym every Wednesday who are a group of runners who volunteer within their local community and it has inspired me to be more involved in volunteering. As part of my training I also want to get stronger, may be this is the year I’ll finally manage some push-ups and may be a pull-up?

Berlin Marathon

So I thought it would be a really good idea to enter into Berlin Marathon with my friends last year. I had also thought that there was no way in hell I would get in (I had no evidence for thinking that). However after getting a message from a friend saying “did you get in too?” I checked my email and after much suspense as the first part of the emailing congratulating me was in German I then saw the “we are happy to share the good news”. So 2017 will also be the year I fingers crossed complete my first ever Marathon and I am going to own it, I hope, yes I will, I still don’t know how to feel about it (face in hands).
Probably not an Ironman 70.3
Yes because it’s good to set realistic expectations. Last year I completed my first Ironman 70.3 and to be honest with the two above I know that for me it may not be realistic to sign up to a middle distance triathlon however I will participate in smaller triathlons but also start to concentrate on the individual pieces of a tri which brings me on to my next one.
Long Distance Open Water Swimming
Swimming has always been my favourite part of a triathlon and I didn’t swim as much last year as I had in the previous year. I’m also annoyed at myself that last year I didn’t take advantage of Hampstead Heath ponds at all which will certainly be rectified this summer. I would like to compete in a 3km and a 5km race to be up to my ultimate goal of a 10km swim.
Apart from all the sport related stuff there are places I want to go, things I want to achieve in my job and my blog and read more. I actual miss my train commute as I feel like I’ve lost out on some solid reading time!
This is me opening my arms wide to the New Year, oh hey twenty seventeen.
